Programmable Intermittant Wiper

Set the pause time for your wipers
Year(s):  '80 - '91
Model/Type:  Vanagon

At the fuse box, remove the relay marked 19 and replace it with a 99.

Here's how you set the delay:
1) Move wiper stalk to intermittent position
2) Return to "off" position
3) Wait desired interval then push back to intermittent. Whatever time delay you set it with, it will remember that speed until you repeat steps 2 & 3.

Again:
Move stalk down to intermittent position and then back up to off. Wait until desired interval, then move stalk back down to intermittent. Interval is now set to the time you waited in between moving stalk down.

John Bange sez:
Once you try it out, you'll see the genius in it. Say it starts raining a
bit harder and the interval isn't short enough. To adjust, you just flip
the lever to off after it wipes. Then when you decide the window is getting
a little hard to see through, you simply flip it down to interval wipe
again. The interval is then set to wipe at EXACTLY the right time to keep
your vision clear. No fiddling with a knob trying to guess where to set it.

357 955 531 (original VW 99 relay)
or 1HM 955 531A or B.
The Bosch # is 0-986-335-058.

357 955 531A, 1HM 955531, and 1HM 955531C are the NON-programmable intermittent wiper relays.

Check Ebay should be $20-30 or find them in your friendly neighborhood boneyard.
