Subject: Re: Purging Cooling System of Air / Where Would We Be Without
I haven't had to bleed my cooling system since I started filling it with the rear end up in the air, making the top of the coolant reservoir the same height as the top of the radiator.
Just open all the bleeders, fill with pre-mix, squeezing the hose between the right head and the coolant distributor to get the bubbles out.
I don't even run the motor, I do it with the engine cold and haven't had any problems in the 4+ years I have been doing it this way.
I have tried to bleed per Bentley after filling this way the first couple of times and have only gotten coolant out of the rad bleeder, so I don't bother anymore.
This works for all WBX, 1.9 & 2.1 engines...
Be sure coolant tank is at least as high as the radiator bleed bolt.
Keep all heaters set to hot.
Open radiator bleeder.
Open rear heater bleeder.
Open thermostat bleeder.
Close bleeder valves as coolant fills to their level and runs out.
Top up coolant and overflow tanks.
Replace coolant tank cap and hose to expansion tank
Go for a drive.
Check tank levels.
You are done.
