To keep the rear door open and save your 20bucks,cut a piece of plumbing pipe a bit shorter than the length of the exposed piston of the door and wider than the cylinder part. Then place over the piston so that it slides and catches on the cylinder and keeps the door in place, when opened.Simple but effective Stevo O Brien Thanks for the help! I'm a new Vanagon user and this page is useful. Carlos Mazzini thanx good info i just bought an 82 westy this was helpful!!!!! roylarocco@verizon.net Well. We had adream!! Thanks! As a new owner and not at all mechanical, this was extremely informative. Shiloh after [4ea]wbxs & 15 years driving &a test of patience on 1st one i found 98% of water leaks etc can end by NO pressurein system.current/84 has 300Kplus,going strong on orig mtr&trans.used this method on all 4wbx in all conditions of driving. If all repairs done 1st & in good shape to start. Cyl to head seal ring is a design problem & can only be replaced when compression leaks start forcing water into ovflo. I have a 100% repair method of outer head water seal if anyone interested. morymob@aol.com
