That is a great write up. Awesome tips, I will be doing this soon on my 1981.

I got a little scared of the fire stories and replaced the pressurized lines with stainless steel braided hoses (5/16" inch on ebay). Also I replaced the plastic filter to firewall line with 5/16" steel line after adding a little bit flare fitting for the hose to bite on.
